Being a newcomer to Mungo's, and having only heard a couple of tracks, I was hoping that I would not be disappointed with Serious Time. I wasn't. Their sound production is first class and their beats, bass and rhythm are boss. Add some fine vocalists into the mix and you have a great record for any reggae/dub/dancehall fan. Particular highlights for me are Serious Time, Can't Stand It, Bike Rider and Animal Dance. Having been to Chester Zoo lots of times, Animal Dance really makes me smile. Plus the fastchatting style of the MC and hook is catchy. All in all, if you are already a fan you should not be left deflated by this release. If you have never heard these guys before, or if you are a fan of Major Laser's reggae/dub style stuff then buy this. It is much more authentic and less pretentious.Mental as anything old school dancehall brilliance with many guest vocalists. A very good pressing on vinyl by Scotch Bonnet records. Everyone a foot-tapper.
